Australia’s iconic Surfers Paradise is one of the top tourist destinations in the country. With pristine beaches set against rolling waves, Surfers Paradise draws tourists all year round.

The beach is a hub of activity. Swimmers, joggers, surfers and sun worshippers from Australia and all over the world flock to the golden sands of Surfers Paradise.

Here are a few tips to ensure that your trip to the beach is safe and enjoyable.

  • Always swim between the red and yellow flags. If the flags aren't up, it may not safe to swim.
  • You can always ask a lifeguard if it's safe to swim.
  • Be on the lookout for safety warnings.
  • Be on the safe side and check with a lifeguard about beach and water conditions.
  • If you get in trouble in the water, stay calm and put your hand up so that a lifeguard can easily spot you.
  • Protect yourself from the sun. Apply sunscreen, wear a hat, put on sunglasses and stay in the shade if it gets too hot
  • Leave valuables at home or in your apartment
